FUND DRIVE & SUBSCRIPTION

The last year has continued to be a very active and exciting time at Lower Alsace Ambulance Association (LAEMS). LAEMS has had continued growth in the number of EMS call received. Due to this increased demand for service and continuing innovations in medications and technology used to treat our patients in their time of need, costs to provide service continues to rise and unfortunately insurance reimbursements have decreased, not increased to offset this cost.

LAEMS provides first due Basic (BLS) and Advanced (ALS) Life Support emergency medical services to the residents of Lower Alsace Township, Mount Penn Borough, St. Lawrence Borough, and Alsace Townships. Additionally we provide second due (back-up) coverage to all of our neighboring municipalities.  LAEMS maintains a highly trained team of Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics ready to respond to any medical emergency you may experience, with the latest in lifesaving EMS medications and technology.

These changes and improvements come at a cost which is defrayed by contributions from our municipalities, soliciting subscription memberships, donations from the citizens we serve, billing patient insurance, and when insurance does not cover the cost of services billing the patient out of pocket.  The last of these is where a subscription membership can assist you in preventing high ambulance bills.

Please carefully review the information below, as rates vary by municipality thanks to government-based support

Alsace Township

  • Due to the increasing costs of providing Emergency Medical Services and the GREATLY decreased insurance reimbursement LAEMS still has difficulty meeting the costs to serve the community with professional high quality service. We are reaching out to all residents to request subscriptions to LAEMS. These subscriptions shall be used to defray our cost of operations as well as be used for capital projects such as ambulance replacement and equipment upgrades.

ATTENTION: Mount Penn Borough

  • Effective for 2025: Mount Penn Borough Council has approved a 0.5 mil tax to cover the costs of Subscription for all residents that live within municipal boundaries. This is identical to the 0.5 mil tax already in place for Lower Alsace Township and Saint Lawrence Borough. This change does not apply to invoices prior to the 2025 calendar year.

Lower Alsace Township & Saint Lawrence Borough Residents

  • The elected officials of Lower Alsace Township and Saint Lawrence Borough have instituted a 0.5 mil Emergency Medical Services Tax. As a result, all legal residents of Lower Alsace Township and Saint Lawrence Borough are considered Subscribers and are afforded all the rights and privileges of a Premium subscription member
